Hobson Moor Quarry Walking

Based off Hobson Moor Road on the hills between Stalybridge and Mottram, this is quite a short but scenic walk popular with the locals. In terms of parking there's plenty of pull in spots down Hobson Moor Road where you can park. Also a short distance away is a nice pub called the Wagon and Horses, the site of the Mottram Frog and Bees Coffee Pot.

Stalybridge Country Park and Walkerwood Reservoir Walking

Stalybridge Country Park is on the outskirts of Stalybridge, it's accessible by car with a couple of free car parks on either side, but you can also walk there via the canal from Stalybridge town centre.

Valehouse Reservoir Walking

Valehouse Reservoir is the second in the Longdendale Reservoir chain (that feeds into the reservoir's in Tameside) with a well paved route with only one inclined section. Part of the route is the Transpennine Trail which can be followed onwards across the breadth of the country.

Hyperspace (Gremloids) Bad Movies

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Watched: August 2026

An interesting movie, was an 80’s comedy/parody of the original Star Wars movie. The copy we watched was in VHS quality which certainly leant a bit of charm to it, even if it was hard to make out any details.

It also stars Count Binface’s original incarnation, Lord Buckethead!

Overall a serviceable movie, had some amusing and silly bits, but the movie hadn’t aged well.

Ashton to Stockport Scenic Route Walking

A scenic route between the main towns of the two Greater Manchester boroughs of Tameside and Stockport that initially follows the Peak Forest Canal before switching off onto the Trans Pennine Trail.

Kevin and Perry Go Large Bad Movies

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️

Watched: August 2026

This movie hasn't held up at all unfortunately, a lot of the humour is very of it's time and relies a bit too much on knob jokes to fill the gaps. Kathy Burke pulls off their role excellently as Perry though.

If you're not too squeamish it's worth a watch as it's fun to poke fun at it, but aside from that it's not got much going for it.
